What you need to know for accurate measurements
Determine where and how you wish to place the roman blind. Take account of protruding parts, such as window handles etc. Roman blinds can be placed flush (between the window frame or wall) or protruding (on the window frame or wall). Use a metal tape measure to measure your roman blinds. You can check any height or width differences by measuring in different places; if you encounter differences, you work with the smallest measurement.

Fabric required:

• Edge width + 15cm extra
• model 1 height + 25cm
• model 2 + 4 height to 200cm + 40cm
• model 2 + 4 height above 200cm + 50cm
• Flounced-half segment height to 200cm + 40cm
• Flounced-half segment height to 200cm + 50cm
• For all models width +15cm

Roman blinds are suitable for dressing windows in a modern minimalist style. Our standard version has a chain to operate the roman blind.

The versions exist in 2 basic models plus a number of options:

model 1 without ribs:
Has the most nonchalant look, because the fabric is pulled up loosely through eyelets on the back of the fabric. You will not have tight pleats.

model 2 with ribs:
The horizontal pleats provide a more minimalist look. The pleats are created with tunnels, that contain folding rods, stitched into the fabric. The tunnels are not visible in plain and striped fabrics, because they are at the back. In patterned fabrics the tunnel is at the front to prevent disruption of the pattern.

The ribs are divided evenly over the height, which means the roman blind does not have a flap when it is pulled up. If a flap is required, you can create one by choosing a half segment as an option. The half segment prevents uneven discolouring and could be made from a different colour fabric. However, it must be the same type of fabric. The same applies to edging of a different fabric. Side edging is made with an overlock stitch. Roman blinds of different heights have different standard rib heights. All roman blinds can be lined.

If the rib heights must be even between roman blinds of different heights - for example for roman blinds that hang next to each other - the lowest fold, in a pulled up position, will protrude further from under the second fold from the bottom or it will be completely visible. You must state clearly - will hang next to each other.

Roman blind with side rail

A roman blind with side rails is ideal for tilt & turn windows and for doors which need to be easily opened. The roman blind can be fitted either in the opening or flush against the opening. The blind is fitted with 2 tensioning wires (thin steel wires with a plastic coating) already pre-mounted in the header section. Extra rings are attached to the blind for these tensioning wires. After fitting, these tensioning wires must be trimmed to size. The roman blind is suitable for those models with supporting rods (model 2 and model 4) and the bottom is only possible with a complete segment. A roman blind with side rails is provided with:

• extra rings on each side for the tensioning wires
• steel wire fitted in the header section on both sides
• 2 supports in the opening
• 2 supports flush on the opening
• 3 clamping bushes ( 1 spare)
• 1 chain support
• 4 convex headed screws for the wall/base supports
• 1 sunken head screw for the chain support
• 1 screwdriver

General recommendation for all roman blinds

There are three options for finishing the bottom of a roman blind:

1. Complete segment (standard)
2. Bottom seam the size of half a segment
3. Flounce

When choosing a material which includes natural fibres, we advise you to opt for a bottom seam the size of half a segment or for a flounce at the bottom of the blind (options 2 and 3). This avoids the risk of discolouration on the room side, because the visible side of the material is not exposed to direct sunlight in options 2 and 3.
